DIA Labs and the Centre for Intelligent Manufacturing
DIA Labs is excited to announce a new collaboration with Sheridan College's Centre for Intelligent Manufacturing (CIM) to support the development and advancement of AirSense, our continuous asthma monitoring technology. This collaboration marks a meaningful step toward commercialization, helping us move closer to delivering real-time respiratory insights that can transform asthma care.
Sheridan’s CIM is a leader in smart manufacturing innovation, where advanced digital tools, simulation, modeling, and interdisciplinary research converge to solve today’s most pressing manufacturing and product development challenges. As part of Generator at Sheridan, CIM brings together diverse expertise to create real-world solutions with measurable impact. Their collaborative approach is designed to support companies in building intelligent, future-ready products that are both scalable and practical.
Reflecting on the collaboration, Sahil Manjania, Director of DIA Labs, shared:
“This will be a major step for us over the next few months as we come to a design freeze and buckle up to prepare for clinical testing and regulatory approval. Collaboration is the driving force behind innovation. The CIM team is very experienced with manufacturing all sorts of technology, including medical devices. We look forward to a long-lasting and powerful collaboration.”
This project brings together a talented engineering team from both organizations. From DIA Labs, Pavankumar Yecham, Samra Hassan, Matthew Melkonyan are working closely with CIM engineers Ethan Shen and Stavros Gentile to refine and optimize AirSense. Their combined expertise is helping to bring this technology one step closer to being ready for real-world use.
We are deeply thankful for the administrative support of Carloyn Moorlag, and for the generous funding provided by NRC IRAP, as well as the City of Missisauga and IDEA Missisauga, whose continued backing empowers emerging technologies like ours to reach their full potential.
This collaboration is a powerful example of how life sciences companies, academic institutions, and civic partners can work together to tackle real health challenges. With the support of Sheridan CIM and our shared commitment to innovation, DIA Labs is now one step closer to bringing AirSense to market—and to helping people with asthma live safer, more informed lives.
